United Flea Markets, based in Denver, Colo., announced Tuesday that it has acquired Cooks Flea Market in Winston-Salem.

“Cooks presented a unique opportunity for us to expand our portfolio into a new region,” said Rob Sieban, president, chief executive and co-owner of United Flea Markets.

A purchase price was not disclosed, but the total taxable value of the property is just over $2 million, according to Forsyth County tax records.

Sieban, a former chairman and president of the National Flea Market Association, said that Cook’s proximity to a highly populated area, its impressively-high occupancy rate and its enclosed retail space were factors in United Flea Markets’ decision to acquire the flea market.
